I'm in linear algebra and Calc II and I havent been going to class since up till now I have been able to learn from the textbook.

My teacher (same for both) said if I got 90+ on the final he will give me my final exam mark. If not he will weigh my midterm and assignment marks (an 80 gives me around a 53)

Can I teach myself linear algebra and Calc II in 4 weeks?

this doesn't make any sense, what are you trying to say here? Also, if you aren't getting high scores on your exams then you aren't learning from the textbook

Regardless, you can definitely pick up most of your units in a few weeks time, especially if you got better than passing grade on your midterm. You were smart enough to pass Calc I and you presumably haven’t failed out of this course yet, haven’t gotten such a shit grade that you’re fucked, so you’ll be fine. Set aside ~4 hrs a day for your studies and you will do well. Linear algebra and Calc II is difficult, idk why you would do that to yourself as an underclassmen. You may basically have to spend 6 hours a day total if not more if you want to score over 90%. It all depends if you actually need these exams as final marks to pass or if you need A’s and most importantly how bad you did on your midterms.

Calc II I am probably at 13% instead of 23%

I taught myself calc I two weeks before the final and I got an 84 so the teacher gave me an 80

I also got a B+ in finite math by only showing up to the lectures

it's possible but chances are you wont do it without major lifestyle changes.

As a rule if you want to get good at anything, do it consistently. Math is a skill.

Coincidentally class is held consistently and that forced consistency is how people learn in school.

If you catch up and are able to do the homework assignments you've missed in the classes, and are able to turn in the future assignments with good marks, there is a chance you'll do decently on the final. Getting a 90+ at most schools would be quite difficult given your circumstances.

It might be better to withdraw and take it more seriously next time.

EE here calc ii was never hard (even at its hardest) and conceptually, linear algebra was pretty straightforward. My LA prof didnt let us use calculators though and Id literally do pages of row operations and matrix algebra

Lol it can be done even in less time.. Just watch the MIT lectures on single variable calculus and linear algebra, you could do it in seven days dedicating yourself to it for 10 hours per day. (10 hours of solving simplistic exercises, and 58 hours of watching lectures, though if you read the transcripts you can go much faster, and you can always go twice the speed when the lecturer is just rambling)

At this point, read each chapter thoroughly, try to do the example problems without looking at the solutions. Finally, search the topic on YouTube. Then afterwards, try doing the hardest problem for that chapter/section. Doing one really hard problem will force you to look at a bunch of smaller problems and finally understand it in a way that is clear. Proton, solving one hard problem might take a lot of time but the rewards are high. Worst case scenario, a problem of similar difficulty appears on exam. I assume Linear algebra is ~ 6 chapters with like maybe 10 subject matter so 10 problems. Calc ii is like maybe 8 parts so 8 problems. Suppose 2.5 hours per problem and that's like 32 hours. So 32 hours in 4 weeks is 8 hours per week. More realistically the time it takes to read is 3 hours per chapter with solutions. Do the math. Totally doable.

He should be doing 4-6 hours a day. Its just anything beyond that is too much to ask of most people. I wouldn’t expect information retention to be good past 4 hours usually.

There are people who aced the midterm by just attending lectures (not even writing notes). I'd say i'm pretty dumb, if not with homological algebra, i certainly am with my work ethic because wasting time on anime whole semester and then grinding a week before exam isn't going to work forever.
