Be sure to actually read the book and take notes of what you find important in there, not just skim it once and try to wing it.

But honestly I don't think you're suited for Loomis yet, read Keys to Drawing and be sure to do ALL of the exercises in there. Be sure to post them in /beg/ too so people can give you feedback on what you should be doing. The fact that you've been drawing for 3 years and this is your current skill level is giving me Eric flashbacks but I'm sure you can make it if you put effort in it.

If you don't want it bad enough to study it then you don't have what it takes to get good. I mean if you're here you're a weeaboo. Did you study Japanese or not? I did. You can not get good at this language without studying. You aren't going to learn new shit on your own. You just aren't. You have to open a fucking book and do the exercises, make mistakes, get corrected by someone who knows better, practice, learn something keep and repeat forever. It's like you are an alien from another planet who has never learned anything. How did you learn absolutely anything you've ever done?

you don't need to study loomis, but you need to learn to think (and see) visually. Loomis is one tool for that, there are others like reilly, vilppu, the old cube, cylinder methods, by the pic how to draw manga books could help you they themselves are similar to other methods mentioned but geared toward a specific style(surface look). Its really all the same just another adjustment on how you think.
