There's a million ways to make money as an artist, the market is in desperate need for artists and it doesn't take much to stand out from the sea of mediocre artists.
Why would you actively choose to be an e celebrity?
The argument is artistic freedom, but if you need to constantly chase trends and beg people to look at your work it's hardly freedom.
Besides, if you were even mediocre every time you'd draw something for a hashtag you'd get at least 50-100 likes and at least a handful of followers.
