Generalist teaching books are trash compared to books that teach a single topic. This is literally always the case, no exceptions.

By not being retarded. I see that 20 page perspective lecture of which most is text and not actual examples and I throw the famous artists course into the trash where it belongs and pick up a legit book teaching perspective.

Really good stuff
They teach you the larger process of sketching, picking up references and refining the piece.
They introduce you to working with different mediums and even some obscure studio processes like using a pantograph.
A must read for those who want to make it

Actually one of the best resources on drawing/painting, the cartooning one is excellent as well. Avoid the new versions though, they totally tarnished the reputation of these great books by featuring such shitty mediocre artists.
