would anyone read me digesting some steve huston videos into a pdf form that does away with a lot of the bullshit? i'm feeling charitable so i'm thinking of writing a "steve huston for idiots" pdf

his book is utter trash if you haven't read it, it has a lot of tiny advice, nothing useful if you're digging deep into a subject, and it makes sense since his primary avenue of teaching is NMA videos and not a very dry booklet that basically serves as a handbook for following along to his videos

understanding it is one thing but you also have to learn how to apply it by putting it into practice and its always good to check the source again after you've been doing it on your own for a while to see how you could tweak or improve your skill from a mentor

for now it's got a spergy intro because i can't stand a white paper, and a retelling of a few episodes; the tldr isn't in yet, and i'm only like 60% of the way through the first series, but it has some merit even like this i guess

I enjoyed reading that man, I had my doubts but this is turned out very informative and imo already a good companion for the lessons. Besides boiling down the lessons, you had constructive commentary and pointed out strengths and flaws along with background info about Steve's courses/NMA in general with some humorous quips thrown in. Definitely finish this and continue to improve it as much as you can, you're making something valuable that many people can use. I am slowly working through his courses, and already this little pdf helped me remember and understand some concepts better. You get a golden star from me, and another one if you keep working on it

pretty impressed anon, you clearly put some effort and thought into this and it reads well and covers his stuff quite nicely so far.
I went through his videos a while ago and felt they were a bit all over the place so moved onto to other avenues.
NMA really need to organize their videos better, like one of the episodes to karl gnass's course wasn't even tagged and included in the lesson and needed to be searched for as an independent video

yea you are stupid. Why dont you go back to andrew loomis.

His book is perfectly made. Taking the same subjects and having 2 chapters for each, so you learn the gestural basics firsts, then go on to the more advanced section and go over all the body parts again. Dont force your 3head IQ onto other people

For reference these 2 pages combined with the 2 next basically covers all rendering in the best way i have ever seen, instead of just YOU GOTTA FEEL IT.

when i started out with his videos, i went for this portrait course one:

that's mostly because i had problems with portraiting, and he's really gentle in introducing the things you need
overall, great video

the one in the pdf absolutely doesn't do shit about heads, so i recommend at least watching the face part 1 once (the one i linked) because some of those ideas come through in the figure drawing video as well
