Considering the way it aged and the color underneath this is either bronze or brass.
Here are some things to consider
>where exactly did you find it
>what continent are you in
>is there something carved onto it like an artist name or a date or a symbol
If you like it, keep it, if you don't sell it to a pawn shop for a pretty penny, This probably isn't a million dollar artifact but if you think it is go to a museum director or a collector and ask them.
