Then there's the fact that when drawing isn't considered childish here, it's to be considered experimental weird shit, and so many people think art is just doing random stuff to express yourself. Alright but once you weed those out, the few remaining artists that are actually serious will still fall in some traps like making characters ugly to be more "realistic". That may be related to seeing this as a hobby for kids. They NEED to prove it isn't childish by going overboard and losing appeal.
At the end of the day yes Eastern art is better in general since they don't have the dumb societal barriers from the West. Barriers even I may not be fully aware of. Our full upbringing in this society dictates how our art will be, like people wanting to draw cute waifus that end up doing Disney princesses. The japs simply see a different world and have better education on the matter.. And if you think I'm talking too much you're wrong this subject really does deserve a full research of at least 60 pages because I'm starting to see it has too many factors.
And it looks better is because they focused on appeal since the very beginning when they got influenced by Disney. Every newborn artist has grown seeing appealing art around them and that's what they're taught to do. Talking about animation, the fucking goal westerns have is to MATCH a true jap's anime style, surpassing it is out of the question. We won't become better at their strong point. We'd have to create a western style to beat anime and that simply isn't happening anytime soon. I mean the fucking japs also got us beaten at CGI cartoons, have you seen their final fantasy movies? But maybe we beat them at non-anime art? Do they even care about that?
