90s Superboy was for all intents and purposes teenage Spider-Man. DC 1970s introduced the multiversal world of Angor where the heroes and villains were deliberate expys of the Avengers and their foes, who eventually reappeared at the beginning of the Giffen Justice League run.
Both companies have done this and there's an unwritten nonaggression pact about it. Some day you should read Amalgam Comics where the writers had a field day openly acknowledging this poaching (Challengers of the Fantastic and Spider-Boy in particular, and the Amalgam Captain Marvel being Shazam with a Kree origin).
When it's less intentional, companies cover their asses like the decision to cover Doomsday in bone spikes to make him look less like the Hulk. But unless someone can correct me here, the last major fight over this kind of stuff was 1950s DC suing Fawcett over Captain Marvel, which hails from an era when publishers were actively intimidating their talent into not working for competitors.
