>>99143282Usually the line of succession is figured out quite far down, because it's always possible that the monarch just falls from a horse or slips getting out of the bath or catches some deadly cough or gets assassinated or something. It's very possible the monarch will suddenly die, so it has been figured out who the throne will pass on to, even if the monarch had no heirs.
For example, the British throne would have passed from Elizabeth to Charles, and then to Charles' brother whose name I forget if he had no heirs. Charles got two sons, though, so now the order went Elizabeth (Queen) -> Charles, if he's dead, -> WIlliam, if he's dead -> Harry, if he's dead -> Charles' brother and so forth.
Now William's gotten heirs of his own, so now it's Elizabeth -> Charles, if ded ->William, if ded -> Prince George, if ded -> his siblings, if they all ded -> Harry.
Queen Elizabeth's father George VI only became king because his older brother, the king Edward VIII, went "fuck this" and abdicated the throne to run off to marry Wallis Simpson. However this doesn't mean that Edward's kids with Wallis would suddenly remain heirs for the throne, it means that the inheriting line shifts to the descendants of the new ruling monarch.
However Star vs. is a kids show so they might be retarded about things like rules of succession
