>>96659819This isn't different from literally every other movie version of these characters. It's all about changing the characters into more dynamic and easily-palatable versions of themselves.
Comics Thor is an intelligent, noble warrior. Movie Thor is a fratboy.
Comics Iron Man is a suave James Bond type. Movie Iron Man is a sarcastic jackass with a superiority complex.
And we're not even gonna get into GotG here.
Comics Flash is an old-fashioned, responsible and educated man, so naturally they made him into Sheldon Cooper.
Comics Aquaman is a regal and noble king, so naturally they made him into Conan.
Wonder Woman comes from a utopian society based on the ideal of Athens so naturally she's King Leonidas.
This is par for the course with movies and will literally never stop. The ur example being the Star Trek movies with the ridiculously flanderized versions of the OS characters. WB realized they fucked up with MoS and BvS by trying to make the characters LESS flanderized than the public knows them, so prepare to see Batman saying "I'm Batman" a lot and being a slightly less cartoonish version of the LEGO movie version. Superman is evil in this movie because they still aren't sure how to flanderize him without making him unappealing to audiences by being too whitebread.
The lightning on the Flash, the long hair and trident for Aquaman, the armor and swords for Wonder Woman, it's all part of making the characters simpler, more visually distinctive and to have clearer roles on the team. This is the culmination of what some people within DC have been trying to do to the characters for years now most exemplified by New 52 Justice League that did the exact same shit with the characters, except they also had Hal being the comic relief.
