Well, considering Frankenstein's words and work, I'd say that the monster is alive and not undead. As for the sperm, that brings up a different question: if the penis is separate from the other body parts, like from a different human, does it generate new sperm tailored to the DNA of the new body or does it have sperm of the old owner?
And if the guy can make sperm, then a woman can probably make eggs. As for why bothering to build a daughter, well, Frankenstein's monster really doesn't have a good track record with women and all that.
