It was a very fun concept, the designs are by far my favorite fanon next gen kids but there isn't really much there to expand on other than ending it with "Marco should fuck both Star and Jackie" (because anything else will kill one of the kids.

Not to metion that it is made by a guy who mostly specializes in funny short comics, if he keeps going it should just be funny stuff between Marco and the kids rather than keep going with the story.

The problem is that retcon is the wrong term. A more fitting word, given the context, could be destined or inevitable or expected or some other such term.

Although, that being said, we don't actually know what the blood moon curse entails. It was, after all, a celebrated event for demons. There could yet be additional implications about the curse/bond that we don't yet know.

That's stupid.

What made Starco inevitable is how it is written and developed in general. The Blood Moon itself has little to do with it, it just "binds their souls together", which in itself doesn't really mean anything, romantic or platonic. So far we just know it alerts one when the other is in danger.

Mina is pretty unstable and can be distracted. Star still doesn't use her full potential regularly and so could be held back by Moon.

Moon being Star's mother also makes it possible to keep Star from getting too aggressive, at the risk of hurting her. There is the possibility of Star fucking up as always and seriously injuring Moon, but there's also the possibility of Star doing that to me inadvertently if I chose to work with her instead.

Moon also seems pretty efficient and focused; she didn't leave any of the MHC behind so she'd do a decent defense job.

I gotta' say... I'm a little disappointed that the only thing updating with the theme song is the cast picture right before the title card. The wand hasn't changed, Ludo's still in his old costume... I mean, I get animation is expensive, but it's kind of distracting. Maybe the cast picture is a sort of compromise.

Also, it's kind of interesting that the first couple episodes are animated the best out of the series so far. Usually the better animation comes later.

Disney screwed them on the animation. Show was intended to be by Mercury Filmworks but they were forced to switch because Disney prioritized shows like Lion Guard over it.

I'm hoping for a theme song animation change in Season 3. It was excusable for the second season because technically all the things that changed (besides the wand) we weren't aware of that early on.

I don't know; haven't seen it.

It was basically said that it required more complex animation and that Star's animation was simplistic enough that ~anyone~ could do it. But the marked difference between the Mercury episodes and the late Season 1 ones, even the two different studios this season, is really noticeable.

Mercury seemed to really get the show; know when to push the expressions and when to play it normal and all. Korean studios (and Filipino back in Season 1) are pretty much just following the storyboards and not playing around with it.

Dimension was the wrong word; "place" is more accurate I guess.

The monster lands in Mewni have a different portal (I think grayish-green, spiral) than the actual Mewni kingdom (pink and blue, flower-shaped). But California/Echo Creek portals are more simplistic.

They're fairly consistent about portal appearances though; you wouldn't see the "kingdom" one for Ludo's castle or vice versa.

Toffee recognized that Buff Frog was smart and capable from the very beginning, which was why he got him kicked out of Ludo's army, and thought he'd be useful in whatever the hell that Mewnian corn scheme is. I don't think that plotline's over yet anyway.

Go figure, new broadcasting technologies are what helped show creators finally be able to create the stories they've always wanted.

This could also bite us in the ass... I mean, Star Vs. has a lot of episodes that you can watch out of order, but to be honest, I'm not nearly as much a fan of those as I am the overarching plot. I'm worried that we not might have shows like Hey Arnold or Star Trek that have single-episode stories that are fun to watch in an evening.

I think that kind of stuff is beneath him.

Basically all interaction with mortals is beneath him which is why I think he gave himself the job of mentoring whoever has the book, as a sort of anchor.

I'm really sorry to disappoint, but despite what's usual for me I haven't really been keeping track of the production staff from episode to episode.

I will say that I was pretty "meh" on Season 1 as a whole, and there weren't many episodes that really stood out to me other than Blood Moon Ball, the finale, and the very first episode. The writing was my favorite in the first couple episodes, but the story took front row in Blood Moon Ball and the finale.

Yeah that's a good point, but I don't think all mortals are entirely beneath him. Toffee is a threat to basically the entirely universe- it's heavily implied that he's the one causing the fritz for example. Obviously Toffee is not a mortal but I think Gloss knows that the Mewni queens (who are mortals) are somehow key to defeating him or keeping him in check. Which is why he tasks himself with instructing them to make sure they're up to that task, as well as manipulating events to cause them to actually confront eachother. But I don't think he is really somehow bound to the book or the Butterfly family.

I remember seeing an interview in early season 1 where Nefcy said he was "NOW" creative director, implying that at some point before then he wasn't. It seems like they don't often change the credits beyond the voice actors for each episode.

It's funny how meh Hammersley and Bisignano's pre-star stuff was; Hammersley was a storyboard artist on some recent FOP seasons and Tuff Puppy and director on the Kung fu panda Tv cartoon, while Bisignano was a writer/boarder on Uncle Grandpa and co-creator of the vaguely decent Back to Backspace pilot (with over the garden wall writer Amalia Levari, who also was involved in the outlines for fetch and Goblin Dogs)

I really hope they delay the reunion for a while.

Ideally until the mid-season break but I doubt there's enough interest in Marco and Star having completely unrelated adventures for a whole half of a season.

There's an actual comic series with it's own story. I think some of the storyboarders worked on it so it's pretty legit, unlike those AT spinoff comics written by a bunch of randos.

I don't know how interested you are, but Michaels is having its Lowest Price of the Season promotion in the framing department. You could get that in a white metal frame, with anti-UV glass, all dry mounted and pretty, for around the same cost. I'm not trying to sell you shit, honestly, it will last longer and look better this way.

We could also get it in a 16x20 frame off the floor (Certain collections are priced really low this week), but you'd have really wide mat margins on the top and bottom. The cost of the work would be around $20-$25, plus whatever the frame costs, and that's without the anti-uv glass.

Sorry if I'm being annoying, this is just what I do for a living and I'm really passionate about it. That poster would look so much better in a white frame.

Late reply, but I always thought Tom just really, really hoped the Blood Moon might pick them. Obviously he can't control who it picks, he can only try to arrange both him and Star to be there at the right time, dancing, and then just wish real hard they really do have a deeper connection and this break-up is only temporary.
