No-one's saying that Star is "the worst person in the universe", just that flaking like that after you've promised to go is a shit trick to pull, and not something a "good friend" would do.
Also whether or not Marco was happily excited about going to the dance is completely irrelevant. He was going, felt very anxious about it, had asked Star for a favour and it was clearly important for him to have Star's support, and Star had promised to go. And now planned to flake on that promise. That's all it is.
If you promise to do something that's important to your friend, changing plans last minute so that you won't do it because you just felt like doing something else is not cool. Whether or not the thing would be enjoyable to your friend is totally irrelevant - if they asked for your support, you promised it, and then flake, it's bad form.
It's absurd Star stans are legit trying to insist this isn't the case.
