They respect privacy and give people a lot of leeway in what they do on their own time, in their own subcultures. They are very good at self-organizing, and don't fight each other for space.
They also don't care for pot-stirring attention-seekers or outspoken weirdos, and ostracize and ignore them. On the other hand, we tend to mock our ***-boos in public, which just gives them more of the attention they crave.
There are Japanese fans of western animation or comics only. They are every bit as nerdy as weaboos. They just don't act insecure about it and defend their hobby everywhere they are.
