"Genericness" done right isn't a negative quality, and this show takes what it is, another seemingly generic show about family, and excels at it, ironically making it unique, especially compared to most other shows on right now.
It has good comedic timing, the animation is well done, the newspaper comic style is charming, all (or at least, most) of the characters are enjoyable and hardly as one-note as you might expect, and if you've been in a family, it captures that feeling really well.
I can joke around about waifus and incest, and all, but in the end, I'd stick to my guns in saying that it's a well done show, and a nice surprise from Nick.
