I can't speak for others, but I personally find the series very inspiring, for some reason. Plus, the humor in it resonates with mine, and I love all of the characters: add that to the plethora of amazing author that already frequented /sveg/ when I first discovered the series, and by then I told to myself: "Oh, hell: why can't I try putting down something? That's a way to contribute to the threads!"

For me it was a combination of my love for the characters and seeing other great fanfics that originated from these threads. I didn't find a single one about Sabrina so I was like "What the heck I am not a writer and don't have english as my first language but I really want to contribute some Sabrina even if it's not very good, better than nothing!"

People tolerated it so I went to write a few more.

Then realized there were other writers that also were not native speakers and found it very fascinating. if a bit reassuring.

It's more of an attrition than a fight I'd say. It happens between friends who have a similar dynamic as Star and Marco; namely one being more safety/thought prone and the other being more oblivious/adventurous. When the more safe person draws a line at something that the more adventurous person wouldn't really think of it can cause a real breakdown in understanding and subsequently communication if they don't sort it out quick.

Hopefully they bring it up in later episodes and we see them quickly recognize what's happening and sort it out pronto. Personal development of characters like that is the dream in cartoon series.

The only scenario I can see it happening in is if Star had to genuinely go back to Mewnie for good to start prepping for her position as future queen.

It'd leave that spot open in the narrative for the adventure seeking girl and Janna could be seen filling that spot in Marco's life before the show concluded.

I'd say just surrender yourself to the inevitability of Starco anon, it'll ease the pain.

This is something I hope for too. Though I prefer it if they just added it in production notes/credit/have a brief scene showing their names on an attendance list. Something that doesn't feel too forced like how Marco's middle name was revealed from a brief glimpse of his schoolwork.

Now that everyone knows he's not the main villain, thoughts on Ludo?

I was annoyed with how generic he seemed, but thought he had enough decent moments to make up for it. At the same time having him appear almost every episode felt like way too much (I remember thinking it was the fucking worst when he appeared in both segments of one episode).

As soon as Toffee was introduced I enjoyed Ludo more, when they started really focusing on how easy he was to overthrow. I liked that the finale didn't push to make him suddenly sympathetic or anything, but instead emphasized him being a self-serving asshole.

Mostly I'm just grateful they actually had a reason for using the typical useless comedic manlet villain, and that the show wasn't just trying to be a "mindless comedy" the way people both criticized and defended it during its early episodes.

I'm kind of interested in how they'll use him in season 2. He swore revenge on Star for blowing up his castle, but he lost his minions (and probably can't can any new ones since he doesn't have a castle with which to feed and shelter them.) Even he isn't dumb enough to try to attack Star on his own, so my guess is that he'll have to work for some other monster lord, which might be a good time to introduce the rabbit pirates or the robot from the theme song (so far, rabbit pirates have only made a couple of cameos, and the robot hasn't been seen or hinted at at all).

Also, while taking your dad's first name as your middle isn't super rare, it's not very common either. I say that as someone who's got their Dad's first name as their middle name. I think it's just a way to keep a family name going.
Like my Dad's dad had the same first name, and his dad and his dad etc.

There wouldn't have been anything wrong with it just being episodic, but since the show always had potential for a plot from the earliest episodes, it was good to see there was one after all.

I like the idea of him having actually learned something from his experiences and managing to successfully backstab the other villain(s) he ends up working with, but it might be hard to pull that off, especially as a twist, without it feeling like a retread of the first season.

Maybe, instead of fighting Star, he'll comically fail in betraying whoever he's working with for the episode.

My bad, I barely read your post. I didn't realize you were happy about Ludo's uselessness.

I wonder if Ludo's going to be redeemed at some point, or if he'll just remain in the background trying to regain his former power.

I don't mind that the early episodes had a mixed reception. I think that was mainly people getting angry because the show didn't meet their exact expectations. I've rewatched the series and I don't feel the same discontent when I first watched it.

These are my thoughts too. Based on the way animation sites and /co/ itself were speculating on it, I expected either a magical girl parody or something with tons of plot and lore. I was disappointed at the show during its first few episodes for "just"' being a decent comedy.

When I look back on it, I like that even though the show's world hasn't been fully defined or a larger plot hinted at from episode 1 (they're clearly making most of it up as they go along), the crew did take the time to build up a decent cast and settings and be consistent with them. It's always been fun too, even in weaker episodes, because of art and different types of humor. It's great to see others feel the same way, or even return to watch through to the end after formerly giving up on it.

Honestly shipping is what makes at least 40% of the show so fun to talk about due to Starco doing things other pairings just don't.
Lewd definitely needs to go though. I don't know what everyone finds so appealing about it when it comes to cartoons to the point it needs to make up a majority of the discussion we have.
It's annoying and unoriginal as hell but thankfully easy to ignore.

The one thing I ask you people not do, which I somehow have complete faith you can, is not be so obnoxious we actually end up turning against eachother's necks over ship wars by the time hiatus is over and to not become like that show which must not be named or the other show as of recently which has gotten awful with its fandom.

it's weird how fans of star keep this shit in their own threads, yet damn near every time someone makes a thread about it elsewhere on /co/ it's only to bitch about how the show is the worst shit ever

not that it's the best thing of all time, but I don't get why some people seem so fucking angry it even exists, especially when no one here has been particularly obnoxious about it in other threads

It's just because the show is not as good as Adventure time was, Gravity Falls or as much as I hate saying it Steven Universe.
If Star would have aired ten or five years ago, it would have been recived so much better
