Anyone who keeps repeating this idea of SCI as a safe, ultra-kiddie, toddler-level show has clearly just never watched it at this point.

SCI is the closest any show has gotten to early Adventure Time content-wise, just with a soft "comfy" aesthetic over the weird and sometimes creepy stuff.

It's the most logical option when they needed someone to kill the human sacrifice.

The real surprise was showing the graphic mutilation of the victim and the violation if their corpse. Really wonder how they got that past CN.

You can definitely feel that the show is moving closer to the magic centric plot instead of slice of camper life. But even that is so cutesy and soft that it doesn't really change anything. You get glimpses of underlying darkness but it's really kept to a minimal level.

After learning about Julia Pott's previous animation projects I started liking the show more. Those animated shorts were just like those trippy, often scary, may not have been intended for kids cartoons I manged to catch back in the 80s and 90s and I was happy someone was still doing that style.
