There's a good amount of his original characters that can be described as "young, black girls who are super-smart and can do anything", which is fine, but it understandably gets repetitive after the third or fourth time, especially when his shallow writing doesn't allow the characters he makes to go beyond those base traits.
And nobody really wanted another Earth Lantern. We've got:

If anything we'd benefit from just having just one or two and the rest wiped, but longtime fans have favorites. So DC has to be a crowd pleaser and keep them all around.
I really hopes he proves my assumptions wrong. Trust me, I'd rather have more good stuff to read that not, but given his track record and how DC's just been writing off one bad idea after another, it's really hard to think differently. I reserve judgment until the book is out.
