Everything I've heard suggests CM is a lesser movie than WW
The biggest point of contention is brie larson's performance
I get the feeling she just doesn't know how to act in a movie like this. people wearing weird prosthetics and fake space suits. She probably felt ridiculous and just couldn't emote how she think she was
Hope they take care of that in her subsequent appearances

Haven't seen CM yet either. But I have to say WW really dropped the ball in the last act. The big bad was an absolute shit show that kinda ruined the premise and feeling of the entirety of the rest of the movie. I can not imagine CM, even being mediocre, doing anything more off-putting and cringe as that. It's a shame too cuz the first two acts of WW were pretty good.

This is asinine. Ares was always in her top 2 villains. Having it be a fake out where he wasn't actually present in WW1 would have been worse then the fake Mandarin in IM3. And how the fuck was it cringy?

No, you idiot. She's saying that the character isn't reduced to the feminine stereotypes that men expected out of women, like going gaga over babies and being into sweets like a small child. Because that's what most movies push when they try to focus on a female character our a group of female characters. Women being happy that they received a box of chocolate, or dive-dumping on a box of ice-cream to feel better, or being super into babies, and so on. Diana in Wonder Woman was a walking stereotype made mostly to please the male audience. It's like as if she was a Japanese 2D character in some dumb anime who only exists to be "kawaii" and be waifud by the hordes of lonely Japanese grown men.

Carol in Captain Marvel was more than just that, she was a character with her own distinct personality.

I think Wonder Woman left a stronger impression on me, but Captain Marvel sticks the landing better than Wonder Woman’s godawful ending.

Overall I’d slightly give the point to WW, but they’re both successful and flawed in their own ways. Neither is really a top tier cape flick.

Captain Marvel is a more solid film. WW had really good high points but it also had bigger fuckups. CM mostly sat at a solid 7-8/10 for the entire movie.

9/10 is near perfection (cause nothing is perfect, not even a 10/10),
8/10 is great.
7/10 is good.
6/10 is okay with some glaring flaw that can be overlooked.
5/10 is a mixed a mixed bag. a Good ideas but bag execution, fatal flaws that can't be ignored, but with concept that could have worked. Or just plain old boring snorefest.
4/10 is "You tried".
3/10 is "you gave up along the way".
2/10 is "something terrible happened along the the way and that flick could never recover from it".

I mean, the male Captain Marvel also only exists because they didn't want DC to get rights to the name. He was eternally a bad seller but he kept the copyright in Marvel's hands.

Wonder Woman was a decent movie. I wouldn't call it a must see movie, but I wouldn't say it's an avoid at all costs movies either. It's an action movie and doesn't try to be a lot more then that.

Captain Marvel was muddled at best. The story telling was probably the worst in the MCU I've seen, which still makes it average by most standards. I'd say this movie was the B movie of the MCU. Some people are going to love it, some people will think it's trash.
