>>105283428I'm not sure exactly what you're addressing about what the show's trying to say, but my point is that (1) what the show's saying and (2) how it seems to want you to feel don't work together for me re: Eclipsa and I hate it
I don't see why she deserves the throne when she hauled her ass out of there like 330 years ago. Yeah, the book has some lame-ass justification, but the book's not the show and onscreen she doesn't seem to deserve it. Onscreen the MHC don't come across asthat shitty either since they foisted most of the blame for Meteora onto Eclipsa's dead ex-husband. And yeah, being crystallized, but she got everything back and didn't give a fuck when they were gone. So sad
I don't know or care about the MHC lying to Moon, which I guess is from the book, but Comet being killed was already more than enough justification, from Moon's perspective, for her to be unfairly suspicious toward monsters. I'm not sure why they added that other than to retroactively make the MHC seem worse, when I remember Hekapoo being like "let's just sign the fucking peace treaty and end this bullshit" in BfM
Star ruling would be actually interesting and a good place to take the literal main character of this stupid, stupid show, but of course that couldn't happen because it could be good. Moon also wasn't ready to rule. Also, wow, Star's not ready: sounds like a character flaw that could create actual conflict!
I seem to remember the S4 preview showing that Queen Eclipsa, the Writers' Favorite Character, had already taken steps for monsters' rights, making her already having accomplished more than Star, who's only done shit like circulate petitions and organize meetings for royal youth and give monsters important jobs and other bullshit that was supposedly so lame and pointless the writers chose not to even show it onscreen.
I would love if Eclipsa just wanted to chase monster cock and the kingdom suffered as a result, but that's not what's been shown even in that clip
