This started in the mid to late 2000s with the rise in these "cookie cutter" flash shows (some of which aren't bad though), smartphones, overprotection due to a rise in mass violence and other henious crimes, diagnosing ADHD in kids who were just hyper and didn't have it, etc.
Lol I remember way back in kindergarten (2005/2006, I started at age 6) that kids were going on "dates" while here I was watching PBS kids.
