Because they're just sweet little shorts that have fun plots. It's very traditional and a breath of fresh air compared to everything pushing for more progressive modern story telling. Also helps they're stylistically very appealing

because Flash/Toonboom Harmony puppet rig animation with actual effort put into it (lots of special poses, etc) is the best way to get good animation on a tv budget

It's actually focused on good visual storytelling instead of "clever" writing. You can have episodes where no one says a word (or speaks in a language you can't understand) and you'll still get every last minute of what is going on.

Besides all the other great points people have brought up, I love the passion for Disney history displayed throughout. Like not just the cartoon cameos, but the theme park-inspired shorts and that bit in the Egyptian episode where Mickey turns into 50s TV Commercial and "Random Ward Kimball Alternate Mickey doodle" after crashing into things.

Not really, most of them are the watered down versions of plots from other shows like the when they brainwashed Mickey to be a gentleman.

eh the only old guard spongebob people involved on the show were Aaron Springer (who was only on the first two seasons) and William Reiss (who only did a few eps freelance)
