But GF depended too much on doing something cliche and then making a joke out of it, which doesn't really make it better. There's that video talking about Chuck Jones and his discipline, and the first season of GF lacked that. They aren't in a high school so there shouldn't be "popular" people or school dances. It's set in the summer, so there shouldn't be a Halloween episode, etc. I'm not even saying the execution was bad, but if you're going to do that, why pretend you have a unique premise? Why not just set it in a high school in California? The second season had a lot less of that kind of thing, so I (controversially) think it's actually better.
