Anon, he's blue/grey, do you see?
That is an interesting idea.
I would not have minded how he went out if it was fleshed out better. We had three seasons and he appeared sporadically. I really wanted more information on the second (?) Mewman/Monster war, Moon's entire life, Moon's mother and how Toffee killed her (or whether it was Toffee specifically or just forces under his legion), Toffee's own backstory, etc.
We got so little on Moon. We never see her mother, how she died, or Moon's most acute reactions. We see Moon while she has somewhat regained her composure, but the show still takes breaks to disrupt the emotional tension by having Mina Loveberry cracking jokes about how a woman was just killed.
And what about Toffee? How did he know about the whispering spell? He knew a lot about how magic operates - did he know this before the war or did he learn it after Moon the Undaunted as a response to her? I would kill for a Empire Strikes Back training in magic montage with a less-than-composed Sexy Lizard Man. If Ludo gets a training montage that helps expand upon his character, I want one for my boy.
How does Glossaryck know Toffee? Did he just hear about the guy second hand? If so, how does he recognize him from voice alone? Was he involved in Moon's mother death? Was he there? Is that why he was so bummed out?
What was Toffee's goal, exactly? I can't decide if he was a purely cynical opportunist or not. The creator described him as being comparable to Magneto, but I don't think we saw that. Magneto's ideological behavior is formed from very specific circumstances that we should have seen for Toffee. We know about the general social status of monsters (Tom's elevator speech) but that's not enough for me.
