If anything, the special treatment she gives him in Mewberty suggests that she didn't even consider him as an option. She ignores him while tying up every other boy on sight; following the common interpretation, she deliberately excluded him as a potential mate, even as a lust-driven animal.
On the other hand, when he tries to manhandle her, she becomes very focused on him and gives him more "attention" than anyone else. That could be interpreted as her perceiving him grabbing her hand as some kind of advance or challenge to her, presenting himself as an option, which she eagerly accepts. So maybe she was open to it on some level, she was just more afraid of hurting her friend(ship) and needed him to show interest first.
