>>3062819You're not. For me part of the appeal comes from a male anime character being thin, pretty and adorable instead of a generically dull, fish-eyed beefcastle with no emotions or personality. Doesn't even have to be a trap, necessarily, as long as he looks cute and isn't blatantly a shota. I also happen to look young and boyish with a thin build and am sort of bi-curious, so I don't really identify with the toneless, overly masculine male model characters you see in the overwhelming majority of all media outside of Japan.
So even for me the appeal of traps is not so much wanting to cross-dress or getting the gay on and wanting to fuck them because they look like girls, but more of an "I want to look cute and androgynous and I like and identify closely with the idea of cute and androgynous male characters" sort of thing. I don't think my way of thinking is very common, though.
