Zesty anime is very different from Zesty game in almost every way (diverging as early as like, episode 7 and completely going it's own course in S2). Alot of the heart of Sorey and Mikleo's dynamic was stripped in the anime and replaced by shallow fujobait as >>2848474
said. The drunken bastard Ufotable director even said he got pointers from a fujoshit herself on how to do it.
Despite this, however, Mikleo is still plays role of the "true heroine" and is the closest thing Sorey has to a love interest in the anime. It just feels seemingly one-sided for the majority of it and thus them "ending up together" felt like a consolation prize than anything as gratifying as the game's end. TLDR; the anime portrayal is basically a convenience store brand version of the ship, but it's still endgame.
