I mean, just think about Buffy the vampire slayer for one. Cordelia and whoever that other kid was fucking hated each other's guts. At one point, they're screaming at each other and they just suddenly start making out. We've seen this happen on plenty more occasions. Some people are into that angry rough sex thing. People can hate each other and still perform sexual acts, it's not like it's unheard of. Not to say there aren't people who imagine them actually developing romantic feelings for each other (which is not completely inconceivable either and ALSO happens in manga and shows and movies).
It's just a matter of preference.
Personally, I'd rather fuck someone I hate (someone with actual sex appeal of course) than fuck my best friend.
