I am slowly recognizing things, but I am also adapting myself to the grammar at the same time. I can understand porn doujins more or less, since it's not very complicated and there's a lot of repeated elements (stop, I'm coming, it feels good, etc.) I think I'll take up actually lessons when I finally recognize all the kanas easily.
