It is neither. Currently the error rate is pretty high and you need to cull whatever was badly edited. If a rank amateur edgelord were to cook up "some stuff", things could go really badly wrong.

Viruses are a terrible fucking weapon, in theory you can engineer them to do whatever you want but once it's out it's out, any hope of control is gone when evolution takes the wheel. In The Art of War Sun Tzu goes into detail about the dangers of using fire in warfare because it will go wherever the winds blow it, it doesn't owe you shit and neither do viruses.
