I calculated pi by measuring the circumference and diamater of this circular object in my home with a cheap ruler. Then divided one by the other.

I got pi with 0.068% of error.

Which means you didn't get pi so my point still stands

There are only rational numbers in reality as reality is finite and thus you can only achieve a limited precision (which necessarily implies a rational number)

As such, only close approximations at best exist of mathematical ideas like circles and squares. In reality some "points" of the cicumference of that circle you measured is closer to the center than the other "points", which gives you the "error"

euclidian geometry is a fiction which applies nowhere in this universe, the discrepancies between imaginary euclidian geometry and the real physical world probably explains the largest part of your error.

If you had a circle and you measured it to be, say 355 millimeters in circumference and 113 millimeters in diameter, you would get an extreme precise approximation. In picrel the arrow is pointing to the precision of 10 nanometers. But since all those digits leading up to that are zeros, you would be measuring pi with 10 nanometer accuracy just by accident.

Circles don't exist in the physical world. You measured something similar to a circle but not actually a circle.

Everyone assumes the error is only in the object. The object being measured is not a perfect circle and OP isn't a perfect reading device because eyes aren't perfect. I'd like to see what the device measures at using something like a time of flight laser system instead of OPs eyeballs. That'd be cool science.
