Why isn't Rankine the scientific temperature standard? It's based on the most logical and easy to understand temperature scale while still remaining relevant to absolute zero and scientifically useful.

The best scale would be a new one that divides the space between absolute zero and the freezing point of water into 1000 degrees.

I convert temperatures from the JWST to Rankine, since the temperatures they put out to the public are in 1 Fahrenheit increments. Celcius used to be in 5/9 C increments (with ugly repeating decimals) before they were just rounded off to the nearest C later in the mission. Coldest part is under 10 R, chilly!
