Looks like the high school pre-calc I took because I depression-flunked into the remedial classes in grade 9, so they wouldn't let me take the actual calc classes.

It's elementary differential equations. $y= y_h + y_s$ . $y_h$ solves $y_h'' + 4 y_h =0$ . By use of quadratures or the usually approach; substituting $y_h = e^r$ , you can show that $y_h = C_1 \cos(2x) + C_2\sin(2x)$ .

For $y_p$ . You just plug the asserted form (it's correct) into the equation.

$y_p'' = - 9 y_p$ so $-5 A \sin (3x) - 5 B\cos(3x) = 2\sin(3x)$ so that $B=0$ and $A = -2/5$ . This gives the general solution

$y(x) = C_1 \cos(2x) + C_2\sin(2x) - \frac{2}{5}\sin(3x)$ /
