I've yet to see any of the depressed, nihilistic types who morosely predict that death is the ultimate end of all experience address this graphic. I pretty much accepted the ideas presented therein many years ago, based on my own reading and thoughts, and the idea of death lost all of its existential dread for me. I can't see how the logic can be refuted, really.

I would be willing to listen to anyone who thinks they can refute it, tho. I'm obviously biased.

The graphic is easily pointed to as dubious solely by calling on the fact that where once very few people existed, billions currently exist. What would the ecology of that black zone be in that case? Just how much mind/soul numbing suffering would be involved with getting 100% of babies to be literal mental potatoes on delivery?

Why would anyone argue your shit graphic if all it points to is some scenario that means nothing beneficial to the individual but implies likely infinite suffering during states of death for unknown scales of time?

That being said, I'm fully aware that infinity does NOT imply recurrence. Just like with Pi, the exact same configuration of particles might NOT recur. Personally I don't think it's necessary for conditions to be exactly the same.

Sure, I guess. It seems just as likely as time never recurring, tho. Seeing as reality is probabilistic in nature, I don't think its the case. God figuratively throws dice for every particle interaction or event, with the outcomes fundamentally NOT dependent on anything that came before.
