So what are some of Science's greatest hits?

I'll start:
-Being vehemently anti handwashing before delivering babies and after dissecting cadavers
-Changing what constitutes a mental illness on the basis of political change
-Using mental patients as test subjects for a CIA mind control program (head of the world psychiatric association doing that one)
-Trying and failing to make a boy into a girl without consent through surgery and socialisation
-Stripping honours from a scientist on the basis of him saying widely held views with strong supporting evidence because saying those views is not allowed
-Kicking the guy who figured out that correct tongue posture probably has something to do with correct facial formation out of the british orthodontic society
-Denying thousands of contemporary and centuries old reports of rogue waves despite large vessels disappearing in open, ice-free water
-Vehemently resisting the idea of continental drift despite the evidence pointing that way since the late 19th century
-Not telling 400 people they had syphilis in order to see what would happen (CDC)

So given how correct the science has been in the past, what are some of the most extra true things in the sciences today? And what new truths can we expect to emerge and become the Science? What insane, fringe ideas will become true?
