Are any of the gen IV designs actually viable?

Investing in nuclear power is very cost intensive on the short term, but by far the most profitable on the long term.

you're right but by green i mean quick easy profit. you can sell solar panels to anyone, you can only sell nuclear plants to governments.

Yes, unless we figure out a way to store massive amounts of electricity cheaply. And even then, with a grid with 80% renewables you'd have to massively overbuild the generation capacity as well as the transmission network.

if people want to start making real changes without sacrificing lifestyles, absolutely. I find in threads about nuclear, many people come out who plainly want people's lifestyles to change and dislike Nuclear because it provides way to maintain the status quo. Take that as you will.

There are Gen IV reactors operating today.
