As far as I can tell from taking IQ tests, what they're testing for is not some sort of raw intelligence or natural insightfulness. Having the patience to think through all possibilities before submitting your best guess seems to be the key to high scores.
Is IQ just an ability to restrict impulsive behavior and nothing else?
