>>13932988Medicine gives one the illusion of intellect because it requires many years of very hard work, after this the average med school graduate feels like they made it, they get cocky while they regurgitate what they memorized in medschool thinking that it's impressive or clever. And often the information required to be an expert is so great that even the industrious ones can't spare any time or brain capacity to make cross references and use knowledge from different disciplines which is usually how advancement is made.
Engineering on the other hand is relatively light work that just needs you to have some wits in the first place for calculus and such, it's easy to look around you as an engineer and connect different specializations to drive innovation but that same spirit just isnt there in medicine anymore.
It has become the profession of the midwit.
