You can find solace in the fact that people like Newton and Einstein were not only genetically gifted, but lived in precisely the right time and conditions that enabled them to place the final stone on a project that was worked on by many dozens of scientists who were just as talented and hardworking, if not more, than they were. That’s an important point. I largely agree with transhumanist principles as a starting point, but there’s no getting around the fact that many of the proposals could have negative consequences. My beliefs about intelligence are very different from yours. I think that many 4chan users are likely still among the cleverer members of our population and that the Chanese culture is so fundamentally sarcastic and satirical that many comments which appear stupid at first glance are just jokes you don't get yet. I feel pretty ineffectual about it, to be honest, especially as it being a replacement for 4chan, because, like you said, it takes balls for the people who use this and other sites to go anywhere else these days. The people who left went to discord servers or back to voip chat rooms embedded in streaming services. I don't think it's going to be easy to just go somewhere else. Moderation is the only thing that can save places like these, but that era is over.

Wolfram is generally acknowledged as an self-obsessed hack, for example, in his book "A New King of Science" which other scientists brushed aside as totally irrelevant.
