I got an A in calculus 1, 2, 3 (uncluding vector calculus). I also got an A in differential equations but that doesn’t count because I did it under lockdown and basically cheated my way through and learned nothing. I got filtered by Special Relativity. I could not understand it and I quit my physics degree and became an alcoholic.

I'm in second year of my physics and math degree.
I will be forced to switch to just physics because I dont have the wits for higher level math

Uhhh. Find something else to be good at then? I got an A in real analysis and have never used it for anything. It's a completely academic subject with no real world applications whatsoever. Getting filtered is the universe's way of telling you to do something more useful.

Bruh physics is harder. With math you literally go definition theorem proof ad infinum, there is literally nothing else and its super easy to self learn from books, with physics you basically either get it somehow through experience or youre fucked. No proof or eqn memorization is gonna save you

I disagree. I started uni at 28 and I am 30 now. Prior to that, I never held a degree. Hell, I barely passed high school. My point is that if I hadn’t even tried because of “muh IQ” I wouldn’t have known my limit. Maybe I didn’t get a physics degree, but I have at least some university level credits, including all the “weed out” math courses for almost any degree program you can think of. So in that sense, I’m better off than if I hadn’t tried at all.

I think the main things holding me back have been my mental health, my tendency towards substance use and abuse, and my motivation. Every time I have gotten my shit together I saw results. It’s just seemingly impossible for me to keep it together long enough to go all the way. I sabotage myself.
