Take your time, find balance.
A good work-life balance is significantly more valuable than raw efficiency.

All the senior devs I know are lazy bastards who try to do the absolute least amount of work possible, relative to the requirements of their task at hand.
It's always the entry/junior devs who go balls-to-the-wall for a few months, and then taper off into a burned-out failure.
Don't worry about "working twice as fast to have twice as much free time".
The best plan of action is to just meet your deadlines.
You have 8 weeks to complete a project that you could complete in 3 weeks? Lucky you. Enjoy spreading 3 weeks of work out through an 8 week period.
You WILL burn out if you do anything more than the bare minimum that has been established based on your deadlines.
