Just have everyone go into one big group and slowly do all tasks one at a time. If someone moves from group they are imposter and kill them.

I've played a similar game Town of Salem quite a lot, and I can tell for a fact that there's certain strategies that are 100% proof for the innocents. Anyone not playing by these strats is either an impostor or retarded.

If there was a serious sports scene around these games, they would be solved very fast and generally the impostor side would lose 100% of the time.

It is basically meta gaming, but just stack. Players work together to complete all tasks. Imposters always lose.
What is actually missing from the game is a time limit to complete all tasks. In order to make the game interesting people also do no meta gaming. Look at it for now as if it is a time limit driven game where players can't just walk around from task to task, but must divide and conquer.
The goal is to limit isolated exposure to imposters
There is essentially no game involved in the voting phase except for inducing mistakes by the imposters in not keeping their story correct. Sufficiently skilled imposters won't fall for this.
An interesting version of this game would be one like clue, where every player has gods perspective and knows who the imposter is and they basically have a logic checklist which must be completed in order to prove they are the imposter. It would be kind of turn based where every player is moving around to induce a mistake in the imposter.
