So small mammals live in woods right. And they're consistently hunt by some bigger mammal. But how did they survive? Because over millions of years one of them developed a mutation which allowed him to be faster so he was able outrun them, survive and reproduce. Only took him forever and it's not like his whole species would've been hunt down a hundred times over, no the predators are just waiting for one of the little guys to adapt to level the playing field.
