I assume it will never be possible to reconstruct a human brain from current MRI images.
The resolution looks like dog ass. If we can make MRI's have a high enough resolution, I assume it will then become possible to reproduce a copy of that brain, eventually.

What is the resolution wall* on MRI's? How far away are we?

*The point at which an MRI will have a detailed enough resolution for the images produced, that an exact replica brain can be created from the imagery.

Is this even feasibly possible, without damaging the tissue?

Well obviously it would be preferred to kill the original and let the clone continue at that exact point, it would be quite distressing for the original to have to continue and die later in his branched off life. I don't think there's anything that differentiates a perfect copy's mental life from the original's mental life, except if you want to reintroduce the idea of an immaterial soul.

You have no data to back your claim.
I don't either.
So there is no CONSTRUCTIVE scientific discourse for either one of us to have on the subject, at this time.

However, we are moving closer to the point that this can be experimentally tested, assuming that it will ever be possible at all.

We haven't done the experiment yet, so we must do it in the future, right? If it is ever performed.

So what are the potential possibilities of that future?
Your way, where a clone and an original are inherently separate, and my way, where maybe that isn't the case, or at the least, doesn't have to be the case.

I am more hopeful that my way is possible, but I accept that your way could be true.

If it becomes a problem of engineering, then what I become interested in, is the methods by which that gap can be bridged.

No scientist would make that claim. It's not a scientific claim, as it's unfalsifiable.

The only thing I know about science for certain, is that for something to be accepted as a fact, it has to first have the possibility of being false.
