Most people when they think of this probably think of the not so distant scenario where rich people are using it to make their children a few inches taller, 10 IQ points higher, resistant to certain diseases/autism etc.
But what about the next inevitable step. When we have mapped every gene to associated traits. When we know every gene that's associated with intelligence, and every other trait. When gene editing tech undergoes moores law-like growth and it's possible for every birth on earth to be heavily gene edited.
Everyone is just going to get some default birth configuration, with a 300 IQ, 6 foot 2, resistant to every disease, jawmaxxed etc.,
Why wouldn't differences between humans become minimal at this point? Why wouldn't everyone just be more or less identical clones of each other with maybe some superficial variation allowed?
