No, it does, that's about geometry. Also keep in mid that's not a lens. I know you cant focus sth. hotter as the surface of the sun, jet that's a reflector not a focus.

why not? why is it impossible capture the flux equivalent of an area of the sun's surface and focus that radiation into an area smaller than the original solar surface area?

wouldn't more water leave the atmosphere like that? Perhaps there is a study on how much water there was 1 million years ago and how much we have lost to space.
