All described with a similar "mosaic" of features, some more resembling Erectus, Neanderthal, or Sapiens. Basically what you'd expect of a close relative to Neanderthal and Sapiens. Some features would be more primitive or derived in each group, and would thus have different features in common.
So if they had these skulls for ages, you might wonder why it's only been recorded as a new species now. That's because China likes to push multiregionalism as a theory because they like to think they're special. Something must have changed for them to stop insisting that this is Archaic Homo Sapiens. Probably because the longer they went without naming a type specimen, the higher the risk some Indian or something would beat them to the punch.
