Physics says you can travel .999...x the speed of light, but not travel the speed of light. Math says these are the same thing. Which is wrong, physics or math? This should be causing a crisis in one of these communities.

0.99... = 1, so this is only possible if you're massless. If you're not massless, then you should be satisfied with 0.9...9 times the speed of light, where there are only a finite number of 9s

The speed of light is a rate of induction, not an absolute limit, and the notion you have to put more energy into an object due to its mass increasing is farcical *unless we are expressing escape from another body already in motion.

You could accelerate infinitely faster given enough time and fuel no matter the output of the engine.

yeah its called general relativity. If any object reaches the speed of light all known physics completely break. Its most likely that anything that *could* be that energetic would rather become a black hole than just outright create new physics.

In the real work even getting up to 99.999999999999% the speed of light isn't feasible in any meaningful way. This is why we don't care about how many 9s we can tack on till we really find the point where physics break. Its just not relevant

Point being the speed of light is a rate of induction which can be overcome by decoupling the vector of the object from the conjugate field modality from the interference of the medium.

Every new 9 would require increasing amounts of energy budget you have to "pay" while the actual velocity increase goes down. At some point you'd have to pump entire stars worth of energy into your system to gain like a few 0.something m/s closer to lightspeed.
