I would also like to see more in depth exploration of peripheral pharmacology of commonly prescribed medicines. So many people take powerful psychoactive drugs (SSRIs, Benzos, Antipsychotics, etc) and there is still so much to learn, even about drugs that have been around and prescribed regularly for decades.

Example: we didn't even know that the TAAR1 receptors were a thing until ~2001, yet we had been feeding amphetamines to people for decades.

And even as recently as August 2020, we uncovered additional previously unknown analgesic routes from paracetamol and it's metabolites (one of which is an endocannabinoid reuptake inhibitor, and may contribute to infant death associated with infant use).

I don't see this as a the "pinnacle" of medicine really, but I feel that we will learn quite a bit about compounds we are already familiar with in the years to come, as well as gradually be able to approach issues at their root as opposed to symptom management.

they will never cure autoimmune disease. I have multiple chemical sensitivity, it has been known for over 50 years and nobody ever did anything to cure it. Why would it change now

In theory, some autoimmune disorders could be remedied with messenger RNA. Being able to restore coding for certain enzymes could cure things like phenylketonuria.

It's a shame there is so much rage surrounding mRNA with the vaccine, because the implications of the tech itself are tremendous. I expect the topic to remain a polarizing one for those reasons, but, again, the tech is promising for people in your position.

Preventive medicine is the viable and proven way to reduce diseases and that's why nobody cares about it.
