Wiki continental climate.
The equator has consistently the same temps. The near-boreals have extreme differences. Including high temps. Nothing to do with global warming.

OK but shouldn't the equator be consistently super hot? I just googled some of the equatorial countries and their average temperature is around 25-35 degrees Celsius.

I mean I don't know what you expect. We don't live on Venus, the max hot the planet normally gets is around the 40C range, anything above that is officially a heatwave which by definition is abnormal.
